Originally, in my design I was aiming for a Monogram, as it is historically consistent with the type of academic athleticism being taught at this organization.
 
However, I only felt it would be over time it eventually shifted towards including a sword within the design in a way that was not distracting to the overall design.

Additionally with the final design the sword provides a sense of symmetry that the rest of the design can organize under while maintaining its sharp edges that can slightly flair in unique ways
